Our engine supply service avoids that. We source the replacement or reconditioned unit, inspect it before fitting, carry out the installation with new service items and correct fluids, and warranty the completed job for 12 months in writing. When supply-and-fit beats rebuilding

If your engine's damage is heavy — holed block, wrecked head and bottom end together — rebuilding can stop making economic sense. A supplied replacement or reconditioned engine is often faster and cheaper. Equally, if your engine is a sound candidate for a rebuild, we will say so, because a rebuild keeps your known unit. What we check before fitting a supplied engine

• Source and documented history where available.
• Visual and mechanical inspection — including the oil system and timing drive, because a used EcoBoost or EcoBlue with a degraded wet belt is a problem you are buying, not solving.
• New service items at fitment — oil, filter and the appropriate timing/wet-belt components where inspection indicates, agreed with you in the quote.
• The failure that killed the old engine — oil starvation, overheating and coolant loss have causes, and fitting a fresh engine to an unresolved cause is how engines fail twice.

Keeping your registration and history intact

A supplied-and-fitted engine keeps your vehicle's identity and paperwork simple: same registration, same V5C, same service history continuing with a documented engine job. For anyone planning to sell the vehicle later, that matters — a written invoice for a warranted engine job from a named specialist reads far better to a buyer than an unexplained engine of unknown origin. Which engines we supply

Ford EcoBoost petrols and EcoBlue diesels are our daily work — 1.0 and 1.5 EcoBoost, 1.5 and 2.0 EcoBlue, and older TDCi units across Fiesta, Focus, Puma, Kuga, Mondeo, Transit, Transit Custom and Ranger. Availability of specific units varies week to week; call with your registration and engine code and we will tell you honestly what is available and at what cost.

What "reconditioned" should actually mean

The word covers everything from a properly remanufactured engine — stripped, measured, machined, rebuilt with new wear parts — to a used engine that has been steam-cleaned and spray-painted. The price difference between the two is real, and so is the reliability difference. When we supply a reconditioned unit, we expect documented work: new bearings, rings, seals, gaskets and timing components, machined surfaces, and clear answers about what was replaced. When we supply a good used unit, we say it is used, we inspect it hard, and we fit it with fresh service items. Either way, you know exactly what is going into your car — in writing, before you commit.

How the process works for UK customers

2. We confirm whether supply-and-fit or a rebuild is the sensible route, and quote in writing.
3. Book the job — a £50 deposit secures the slot and comes off the final invoice.
4. Your Ford comes to our Manchester workshop (Alfred St, Oldham OL9 7AH) — non-runners typically arrive by recovery or transporter arranged by the customer.
5. We fit, test and hand over with run-in advice and the 12-month warranty.

Timescale and planning

A supply-and-fit job is measured in days, not weeks, once the right unit is sourced — sourcing time is the variable, and it depends on the engine. When you call with your registration and engine code, we tell you honestly what is available, what it costs, and when the job could be done. For customers travelling, we schedule so the car arrives when the engine and parts are ready, not before. Book the assessment with a £50 deposit online; the deposit comes off the final invoice, and the written quote is approved by you before anything is fitted.

Why the fitting matters as much as the engine

A replacement engine is only as good as its installation. The cooling system that overheated the old unit will overheat the new one. The blocked oil pickup that starved the old bearings is still in the sump. Every engine we fit gets the cause of the original failure addressed, fresh oil and filter, correct coolant, new ancillary items where inspection shows they are needed, and a full post-installation test — hot and cold running, pressure checks and a road test. That is what the 12-month warranty is built on, and it is why we will not fit an engine into a car with an unresolved root cause.
